Our Mission
The Mountain Drive Community Association (MDCA) is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Mountain Drive Community. The MDCA sponsors its own volunteer fire company, which was instrumental in saving many houses during the Tea Fire. The MDCA also participates in land use planning and decisions that affect the Mountain Drive Community. The MDCA advocates a land use approach the favors homes for working families over Mansions for the wealthy. The MDCA opposes development of “McMansions” and the gentrification of this working class neighborhood. At this time, our most important mission is coordinating the relief efforts for the displaced members of our community. As the vast majority of our community have lost their homes to the fire, this is a significant task and we are asking for help from the community at large.
All of our relief efforts focus first on those with the greatest needs. Please look at our “Mountain Drive Stories” page to learn about the work we are doing to help those in need. Any help is appreciated and all cash donations to the MDCA are tax deductible. Donations will help those with no insurance to buy clothes and to find shelter in the coming weeks, and to provide housing assistance to those who cannot immediately find alternative housing in this tough real estate market.
